Celebrating our Berner Veterans
(Yellow Rose of Texas v BARC)
Born April 30th 2001
Owned and loved by Genevieve Hannon
Rosie came into my life on Sept. 11, 2008, flown in from her awesome foster mom Linda in Texas at age 7.5. Rosie and a few other Berners had been rescued by BARC at auction that summer from a backyard breeder in Oklahoma, fostered and rehomed, and I was the luckiest girl in the world to be sent Rosie! She is the love of my life. She came to me quite shy and jumpy around unfamiliar noises like the dishwasher with all its stops and starts and her food bowl, and also pretty timid around strangers. After a few months of hand feeding her and working slowly to desensitize her with lots of rewards, she blossomed into a more relaxed, confident, playful girl who wants to greet everyone! She is a survivor of breast cancer now for two years and is very healthy and happy, on her diet of Primal raw. She is tightly bonded with me and her 7 furry siblings - her mixed breed doggie brother who is her best pal, her four kitties who bathe and snuggle with her, and her two bunny siblings who hang out by her. She's the queen of the house, top dog and simply the sweetest, goofiest, flirtiest, gentlest, smartest, funniest dog this side of Switzerland! We spent her birthday on the beach in Ocean Grove, NJ, on the last day of the off season that they allow dogs on the beach, and in town where Rosie was doted on by passers by and she had a bacon cheese burger and an ice cream cone!
If you have time to look at more photos of her, please check out the "Rosie" page on
and a short movie I made of her flirting on the "Home Movies" page!
